They clearly weren't.

By definition, an insurgency is “ an organized attempt by a group of people to defeat their government or ruler and take control of the country, usually by violence”. If we can agree on that definition:

1) where was the “organization”? I saw anything but. Organization would imply a group of people working with a common focus. You didn’t see that.

2) Where was the effort to “defeat their government or ruler”? Please be precise.

3) Where was the plan to take control of the country? No such effort existed, or if it did, it was amongst a small group of independent actors adhering to a well defined plan. They were doing what protestors do—making noise.

Lane, you usually have the utmost respect for words and how they are used. Can you explain to me YOUR meaning of ) insurrection and how the events of that day constituted one? Not even the noisy group contemplated anything that could defined, even loosely, as insurrection.

I do think MSNBC and CNN (particularly) are awfully misusing this concept and I’m surprised if you were actually sucked in by it. I think you’re pulling my leg.
