I've been looking at it mostly from the broad perspective of recent border closures in South America, which are a sign that things are deteriorating in many of those countries. Parts of brazil are a disaster, so I suspect the some people are fleeing the Country and bringing virus variants with them.

Mexico is dealing with migrants coming from through Central America heading north creating additional virus spread risks.

Perhaps some mines have strong protocols in place to isolate their workers, but I can't help but believe that supply chains will be impacted in unpredictable ways.

Not as broadly reported is that many of these new variants are infecting younger adults and children, which can't be good for many of these countries that have a greater population of young people.
