Reviewing my notes again on the patent issue, I feel I must concur with you (absent more daylight on this).

Re: Levin...check this out taken from his employment contract...

>>>
If the Company terminates Dr. Levin's employment without "cause," as defined in his agreement, or if the Company fails to renew his agreement upon terms acceptable to him and Dr. Levin terminates his employment with the Company after December 12, 1997, the Company will pay to Dr. Levin a lump sum severance payment equal to one year's base salary then in effect and guaranteed bonus and all unvested stock options issued to him will immediately vest as of the date of termination.

Re: 3-6 month Ceo search...immediate question is why not promote from within the corporation. Too many highly qualified scientists as I see. Dr Waksal needs to dump ImClone.

The Icahn dominated board is beginning to make me a tad nervous.

Re: impact of the mega-merger. Too early to tell. One thing is evident to me: there is still likely to be a serious shortage of qualified personnel to nurture all the new pipelines into 2000 and beyond, merger or no merger.
