Maybe it is theft but then again ...

Isn't it a form of theft / blackmail for software companies (not just MS) to force us into continuous and expensive upgrades?

I am especially pissed off with this now prevalent subscription model. It's like you can never own a house as the ground it's built on doesn't belong to you. You can no longer buy cars. You can only lease them. Eventually all real assets will be owned by God knows whom but by not you.
