Wireless in the house:

Some David person says, abut Thiin's Network Utility Box, "I was planning to wire Cat5...".

I notice they don't have a price on the web site, yet.

Besides Scrapp's worries about range, I'd guess that Cat5 and 10Base-T (or even 100Base-T) is cheaper than the cost of wireless NICs. Since you're wiring a new house, it should be easy to do, and it will run faster. That doesn't mean you won't want an auto-connecting device on your house-net to bring you onto the Internet whenever you need it, but I can't see wanting a wireless LAN if I could put the wires in place easily.

Your neighbor's new cordless phone (which might also be 2.4GHz spread spectrum) won't interfere with wires, either.

I like wireless stuff... and I am occasionally involved in building some of it, but I'd put in wires in the house if I could. If you have trouble, you can borrow my long drill for going through walls and floors....
