The new economy is dependant on automation; automation is dependant on software? Cheap labor is no longer a first consideration for economy. Large production needs automation (high speed production)to provide quality more than high cost of cheap labor. Human error in cheap labor production becomes extremely costly to repair. Machines are more precise. As economy improves, the higher standard of living gives people more time to enjoy themselves (more automation provided in their daily life). Semiconductor processors provide the computing power to do the motion control in automation. Sensors do the evaluation for the automation, rather than having you keying in the degree of control you will need. Between the sensors and the processors, is the software that controls everything perfectly. Are we good in software development? Microsoft is not aware of which direction they are going. Observe the disk operating system layered by windows video presentation, then layered by disk browser. Ultimately, Java application programs. Browsers should be in the disk operating system. Java can do windows. How fast can you then speed up the computers? Much fewer codes will speed up the computers; much more than power and speed of just the processors. The new economy has to provide Microsoft and all the programmers the direction; before we will get cost effectiveness and better automation. And better cost effectiveness provides less waste and more efficiency in our new economy. Central planning in America covers all these details to give us the job growth. Each citizen has to be taught and trained in going in the right direction.
