Recently someone asked me what my most useless "talent" might be. While driving competitively in vintage sports cars is at or near the top of my list of useless talents, the lessons learned offered me insight in most areas of my life. I was told that to be a competitive driver I needed to be able to concentrate fully, be incredibly smooth and perform with consistency. Well, those work as great life lessons in racing, sailing, work and in personal relationships.

Here's what "Smoothness, Consistency and Concentration" can do for a portfolio over the long haul:

I've had this 10 business sector ETF portfolio going for a long time. Each sector has been managed separately with AIM (with my own variations) the whole time. That's added smoothness and helped consistency. The "concentration" part is AIM itself and adhering to it through thick and thin. The 10 sectors are those of the S&P 500 but I've chosen to use Invesco's "Equal Weight Sector ETFs" (formerly Guggenheim's product) along the way.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom
