TJ,

The opening clip in 2001 is brilliant and your placing it here and now is exclamatory and perfectly on point.

The clip shows the moment, after billions of years of evolution, the ape discovers tools. The next million years are man perfecting those tools to control nature. It was an epiphany.

We are now at the precipice of a digital virtual world. One can live in single room and experience the entire universe without leaving the room. Musk and others are working on the next steps to digitally connect our bodies, but the ultimate step, living in a completely digital world is on our doorstep. I recommend the TV series Upload on what it is like living in a digital world.

The more digital we get the more obvious it is that we live in a simulation, we are PCs (player characters) or NPCs in a LARP game.

Maybe gold will be a relic in this new world. The transition will be cataclysmic but I think it will take 100 years. (Maybe gold is like the 100 year Chinese egg that comes out stinky)

Then again may be it will only take 10 years and start with the interregnum. When will the levers of power fail to suppress the insurrection? When AI takes over.
