The media lied throughout the Trump term which misled the public. Had the truth been told by the media throughout, it would have been impossible for Democrats, dirty as they are, to steal the election in 2020.
If Trump runs again, it is my hope that he is aggressive toward the media liars, and promotes legislation that will limit their rights under the First Amendment. As I've previously stated I would favor probationary periods for media outlets that chronically abuse their privilege.
As in other professions, if they can't control themselves, government must step in and impose regulations. We do this with all other professions and given the abuse of the last five years, it is time to do so with the media.
I would start with soft requirements, like moving back to traditional reporting requirements -- anonymous sources should be seldom used and only as confirmations and not used at all without someone being willing to go on the record. I would suggest every story should begin with a list of every source included set out in a separate block, so the reader can immediately judge the credibility of the story before reading it.
I know, I know, First Amendment. But the Court has to decide it, and we cannot just allow The NYT and WaPo (and TV news as well) to to decide our presidents for us as they did in 2020 (Which CNN is now on record saying that's what they did). |
