Congratulations. I hereby apologize - YOU DID BASH TRUMP for lying ... once, anyway. This post was so great it shouldn't be ignored. I hereby let you know I'll be rectifying this by referring to it again and again and again.

I absolutely agree with you, Tenchu, that the acts of 1/6 were literal acts of treason and EVERY single person who broke into the Capitol should be tried for sedition!

But the way to protest that isn't to storm the Capitol with guns and pipe bombs. Instead, the way to protest that is to do it peacefully and non-violently.

Also, the way to contest the election is through the courts, which Trump did, and almost every challenge was rejected because of lack of evidence.

Trump's Hand

Did Trump encourage the protesters? It's clear to me that he did. Every action he took after the election, every tweet he made, every phone call he made including the infamous one to the Georgia official, clearly showed that Trump was obsessed with overturning the election.

And it was clear that he wanted the raid on the Capitol to happen.

..............................
the symbolism of Trump supporters carrying Confederate flags and storming the Capitol is essentially unmatched and unprecedented.

In any case, I think the buck should stop here. Try every single person who was in the Capitol for sedition.

.................

Congress should immediately convene and draw up articles of impeachment. Expedite the process. Have the House voting by next week and the Senate voting soon after. Even if Trump is impeached and removed from office on January 19th, it would be worth making the statement.

By the way, I remember the last time Trump was impeached. I agreed with the impeachment, but not the removal. I thought what Trump did with that call to Ukraine deserved to be censured, but it didn't warrant his removal from office.

But this time, I believe he should be removed from office. And like I said, if it happens on January 19th, so be it.

...............
As for the 25th amendment, I feel like it should only be used if the president truly is mentally incapacitated. A strong argument could be made for that, but ultimately I think Trump was well-aware of what he did, and he still has the mental capability to make choices. He should be held responsible for those choices he made, and I feel like the 25th amendment, in a sense, absolves him of any responsibility.

It's the equivalent of him pleading insanity. And I don't think he should be let off the hook that easily.

But hey, if Congress decides to go down that path instead of impeachment, I'm not going to object.

.............

It's also clear to me that Trump's antics snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when it came to Georgia's run-off election. Now Congress is in complete control of the Democrats, and they're going to be acting as if they have a mandate (womandate?) to pass socialism.

In any case, the GOP's days are numbered. The sooner they realize this, the sooner they get rid of Trump, the better. Otherwise they'll circle the drain, and America will suffer one-party rule for the next 30 years.

Issues, not personality

We have finally seen the ultimate consequences of a political party voting for a personality over the issues.

We have finally seen the ultimate consequences of a political party forgetting that character truly counts.

We have finally seen the ultimate consequences of a political party who's leader is completely wrapped up in social media and the alternate reality it creates.

If the pandemic didn't break this guy out of that bubble, if a literal act of treason didn't do it, nothing will.
