Help! I am on a relative's desktop PC that is the slowest thing in the world!!

There is plenty of unused harddisk memory.

The processor is 1.70 gigahertz AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon HD Graphics

The DRAM is Slot 'A1_DIMM0' is Empty
Slot 'A1_DIMM1' has 4096 MB (serial number 00C205F3)

So......I'm thinking to buy some DRAM and put it in the empty slot A1_DIMM0

1. Can I put in 8GB, or does it have to be 4GB?

2. Will ANY Dram module work? It's an HP desktop PC, what model dram does it accept? I've never bought DRAM in my life.....

Thanks for any help!
