I hope that the Newark, California followed local building codes and then some.

They are at extremely high risk of a 5.0 earthquake in the next fifty years, but newer SF Bay Area buildings are built to withstand more than that. However, the local infrastructure could collapse for many days the next time even a minor “big” one hits.
