Nikon's numbers are basically in line with previous reports. If they plan to sell 150 units of KrF steppers from March 97 till March 98, they would have to sell a lot in 1Q98, because previous reports indicated that they had problems. Indirectly, a good sign for CYMI.

Also interesting is that Nikon expects 50/50 split between i-line and KrF. Close to ASMLF (reports on ASMLF are somewhat mixed, some suggest 50/50 split for 98, other 60% KrF).

Also note that for 2Q98-1Q99 they expect 50/50 split between steppers and scanners. This bodes well for 5010/Orion demand which seemed to be geared towards scammer market (at least, that was my impression from the CC). This may also suggest that the relative share of MSIII(KrF based) vs. MSII QML (advanced i-line) in SVGI output is going to increase. They (SVGI) are also ramping up capacity, claiming they will sell up to 200 Micrascans in 99. In last Q they produced 17 Micrascan units (15 shipped), I am not sure about the KrF/i-line breakdown.

The main uncertainty for CYMI in 98 is how smoothly will they be able to introduce the new models.

Y.
