INFRASTRUCTURE Announces Participation In Upcoming SEMInvest 98 Conference

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1998--INFRASTRUCTURE, the independent research and analyst group which provides expert information on the semiconductor, FPD and related industries, is pleased to announce its participation in SEMInvest 98, the investor conference organized specifically for in-depth information on the semiconductor equipment and materials industry.

Sponsored by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI(R)), SEMInvest 98 will be held in two locations: New York, February 18 - 20, 1998, and in London, February 23 - 25, 1998.

In addition to publishing its research to subscribers via the monthly newsletter and via real-time email updates, INFRASTRUCTURE provides public or private educational seminars on technology and investing. Following upon the success of last year's conference, INFRASTRUCTURE has once again been invited to kick-off the SEMInvest conference with its tutorial, "Understanding Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology...From The Investor's Perspective." In this tutorial, attendees will be presented with an animated primer on the industry, explaining the concept behind each major process step in semiconductor manufacturing; what are the technical hurdles; what are the market trends; and who are the suppliers.

In addition to giving the tutorial, Ron Leckie, INFRASTRUCTURE's CEO, and Carl Johnson, INFRASTRUCTURE's President have each been invited to lead the discussion at two technology panel sessions during the conference.

Carl Johnson will moderate the wafer processing panel discussion addressing such industry challenges as the deep sub-micron feature roadmap, new interconnection technologies and the transition to 300mm wafer sizes. Johnson noted that, "The goal of this panel discussion is to bring together some of the leading industry watchers/analysts to develop a knowledge base of technical issues that will propel the semiconductor industry into its next phase of growth." He added that, "This will be an exciting and informative opportunity for the attendees to hear about these technologies and their investment opportunities."

Ron Leckie will moderate the test, assembly and packaging (TAP) panel discussion addressing how this sector differs from wafer processing and what the technology drivers are that will create the next phase of growth. Leckie noted that "There are good business and technological reasons why the TAP sector has led the industry into both the downturn and upturn of the last cycle." He added that, "I look forward to discussing these topics with a panel of leading CEOs and to look ahead with them at what we might see as new technology trends emerge."

Johnson commented, "Last year, SEMInvest was very well attended, and we expect that this year's expanded program will attract a large audience interested in finding out more about the industry, technology, sectors, companies and investment opportunity timing as we head into this next growth phase." Each day of the conference is packed with information and opportunities to meet almost 50 international companies who make the equipment and materials that produce the chips which shape technology today and tomorrow.

The following companies are scheduled to attend SEMInvest 98 to present their stories: ADE Corp. (NASDAQ:ADEX); Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:AEIS); ATMI, Inc.
