I've started looking into Object databases myself. Poet gets very high marks, but is expensive to get started. ObjectStore from ODI has a tool you can eval for free. The SilverStream people are looking to make some sort of integration with ObjectStore, and i know others are moving in this direction.

I have the ObjectStore Java PSE (Persistent Storage Engine) which you can download for free. I will let you know if you like what my findings are.

ObjectStore has "Blueprint" an extension for the Rational Rose visual modeling tool.

I would like to see BI somehow embrace these technologies, combining JBuilder, modeling and object persistence. I have heard that there are performance gains in some instances of 100X (i know, "it depends on..."). And, with class libraries and components becoming more important, having more direct access to object storage will be key.

Cheers,

Marq
