Well my COVID / COVID after effects have had their birthday 2 weeks ago. It was in the last week of April 2020 when I was struck down...you would think I would be over this by now...NOT! In fact I think I have regressed if anything.

I am over the effects of that stupid diabetes medication now... headaches are gone as is the partial paralysis of my fingers...at least the effects of that Ozempic drug.

I know I have been back and forth on the various vaccines available for COVID. Of all of them available I thought the Pfizer one followed by the Meduro (SP?) were the best...and I waited for them to be available in Alberta and that happened a week ago.

Alberta is hot spot for COVID in Canada...Ontario and Quebec have more cases but Alberta is on a rise now and now is a funny lockdown...not funny haha but funny weird. There seems no rhyme or reason as to what they lockdown and what they let go. There is an almost a 50/50 split in the province...the only commonality is that both those sides dislike what the provincial government is doing.

Anyway, I told you about my difficulty trying to get registered for an injection and gave up trying...But I was on my biweekly grocery run at Superstore and I went to the pharmacy to get a refill on my insulin when I saw a notice that the pharmacy was now giving Pfizer vaccine injections. I inquired about availability and found out there was one dose left....SOLD... I filled out a short form and was told to come back in 30 minutes...no problem I still had shopping to do.

I finished my shopping and returned to the pharmacy... 10 mins later I had my shot. It was painless, I waited 15 mins afterward then paid for my insulin and then the groceries and then felt a bit wobbly on my legs and a slight soreness in my arm as I put everything in my car.

My apartment was only a 10min drive away...and I made it to the parking lot with no difficulties. The groceries were not heavy and I had my insulated backpack...I put that on and carried the other 2 bags in one hand...cane in the other. I had difficulty walking... my knees felt like soft putty....I made it to the elevator... without my cane that would have been impossible. I was breathing heavily and had a powerful thirst...

I made it to the apartment got inside and put the bags down by a chair next to the refrigerator. I keep 3 liters of cold water inside and drank one 1 liter bottle non-stop then took another bottle and drank half of that one. I put away the groceries quickly and went straight to bed.

I had a restless sleep and woke at about 6:30 AM. My legs were like jello...with my cane I was able to walk a bit in the apartment..holding onto the walls with the other hand. My arm hurt like hell but I expected that. I sent an email to my GP who lives in Lethbridge and no longer comes to Calgary as before COVID. He told me to relax and not do anything strenuous....Which was all I could anyway.

By the end of the day I felt better...I woke up this morning and felt better... my legs felt much better and I could walk without holding holding onto the walls but still used my cane. My knees seem stronger now thankfully.

It never ends....I don't feel I am improving with time. With these on again/off again lockdowns PLUS this weather!!! (Snow and cold rain) does not get me out of the apartment much.

anyway...I survive {sigh}
