I was thinking last night of a couple of books that I am pretty sure you would find super fun to read, as they are great adventures and sort of historical novels at the same time, and by a couple of the best writers that ever lived.

1 Shogun, as mentioned, by Clavell, but he also wrote several others about as good.

2) Tai Pan--this is a super fun adventure that takes place at the founding of Hong Kong.

Lots of people know how good Clavell is, but less people know Wilbur Smith is just as good.

I would recommend "River God" by him. Somewhere in Egypt?, a city is attacked and they have to flee in boats up the Nile river!! PS this novel takes place a couple of thousand years ago.

What a story.

I am amazed at how much these guys know.

The last book I may have already recommended, but is WWW.Wake by Robert Sawyer (got this one from Ron years ago and bought many copies to give to friends it was so good). He is another writer as good as the two above and www.wake is about a young girl who was blind, but with software could see and found an AI entity on the internet just "born", and starting to grow and they become friends!!

These three writers and their books are as good as the human species gets IMO.

And of course some day you need to read Musashi. That one is special.
