Will the jobs, factories, and industries President Trump brought back to the USA return offshore now that a less-than-business-friendly administration is in power?
Donald Trump didn’t bring business or jobs back to the USA. First of all, the Trump administration did very little of anything at all. It took almost no role in policy making. Trump hired a bunch of buffoons who knew nothing about government and how it works. It was a long procession of morons who came and went without doing anything of substance.
Trump certainly didn’t engage in any complicated government functions like enacting policies designed to bring businesses back to the US. As far as I know, Trump didn’t even oppose the exodus of American business overseas in favor of cheaper foreign labor.
I don’t believe there has been any significant return of business to the US since the previously referenced departure. However, I am sure the Biden administration is working to ensure a return of these jobs and money to the American economy. Maybe, it will begin to happen soon because of Biden and Democrat initiatives.
Trump and his cabal of idiots didn’t engage in actual governmental functions at all. What Trump did do was give a lot of offensive speeches. The one thing he’s quite good at is stirring up a lot of misplaced anger and outrage. He broke treaties and alienated just about all of our allies, in favor of cozying up to dictators like Vladimir Putin, Kim Jon-in and Jair Bolsonaro.
Trump often made his utter disdain for government known and deliberately refused to participate in government activities. He didn’t attend daily briefings or briefings of any kind and openly stated he knew more than the experts any way. Trump made it clear he couldn’t be bothered with what subject-area experts had to say.
So, what did Trump actually spend his time doing? Well, according to his documented schedules he spent approximately 60% of his time on “Executive Time,” which largely meant tweeting and watching television. Unlike most other American Presidents Trump couldn’t be bothered with briefings and meetings. He is well known for canceling meetings and/or just failing to show up. Then, if we add in the amount of time Trump spent playing golf, it’s apparent how very little time Trump actually spent governing.
Interestingly, Trump expended a good deal of effort to make sure his signature was on the government Covid-19 relief checks, which he incidentally opposed even giving. But, never one to pass up an opportunity for self aggrandizement, he made sure to get credit for the checks. Trump was happy to appear magnanimous to the masses.
Trump was and is a sponge, a thief and a charlatan. He shouldn’t get credit for any successful government policies because his administration didn’t have any. Trump never engaged in government proceedings and therefore never achieved any successful federal initiatives whatsoever. The only federal programs Trump impacted were the ones he canceled and dismantled. To be fair and clear, this was and is a goal of the Republican Party. It is their greatest wish that the federal government be severely diminished and hobbled.
Trump should be given credit for the excessive damage he inflicted on our government, our economy and our nation. Trump was and is a destroyer, not a builder. Modern Republicans have openly declared their intentions to dismantle the government. It’s no secret and this destructive intent and achievement are the only things Trump and Republicans should be given credit for.
It will take many years to undo the damage done and then to move forward from there. Our only hope is that we do not elect another Republican administration for a long time. Any success arising from the Trump period should be recognized as having occurred in spite of him and not because of any intention on his part. |
