Put it this way, they could all be living as a peaceful single nation since 1948. They haven't. Religious and tribal issues, plus the oars of special interests and powerful individuals, have been paddling away.
Many Jewish settlements lived for centuries in predominantly Moslem countries until Israel became a Nation. What happened? It was not the Muslims that were "just the problem", or even the main problem from my understanding of things.
It would have been more "normal" if the communities and nations had been just left to progress as usual instead of being set at each others throats as I see it.

I would say Netanyahu attitude is genocidal, besides being accused of many crimes. I would not like to tar everyone with the same brush. Of course not. I apologise for any inference on that point.
Israel has promise to be a great Nation. It's biggest challenge is to sit around at table and get all the parties to agree with each other and stick to a peaceful path. The hardest and most difficult path to choose. Maybe the re introduction of the Jewish settlements (external to Israel) in the pre 1948 era could be the way to go in addition to a peaceful resolution of the various settlement issues within the state Israel? MSM lead misinformation and generations of wrong deeds would need understanding first, but lets face it, reality -g- those other nations could go on to an economically win mode with such a change.
It's feasible, and at times there is no real choice, as mutual annihilation beckons.
