Wharfie,
I'm pretty sure I could come up with something to upset you. How about California buying out the drought stricken farmers in Kevin McCarthy's district for cheap, building bedroom communities for the essential workers of SF, and giving them all free commutes on the high speed rail system?
Why would that upset me? It's another one of your hare-brained ideas, right up there with shipping all of the homeless in the SF Bay Area to Hillsborough.

From here to Bakersfield is 4.5 hours by car. At best, high-speed rail could shorten that one-way commute to 2 hours, and that's if there are no stops in the middle.

And that's even assuming you could build a high-speed rail line right up through the Peninsula into the heart of San Francisco. We can't even finish a seven-mile BART extension to San Jose until 2030, and that target date was set before the pandemic.

Face it, housing development in California is completely broken. It's a major reason why California's population went down in the past decade, enough to cost us a seat in the House of Representatives.
