I might have a dozen or so watch books in my library, not counting Wristwatch Annual which is an aggregation of watch catalogs of most brands. Most of the books were $50 or less, and some like the Daniels book are a bargain considering the content.

2.5 years ago I splurged on what then seemed an expensive $200 for the definitive history of Patek Philippe. It's one of the nicest books I own befitting the prestige of the brand. It came wrapped in tissue paper printed with the Calatrava Cross inside a nice box that doubles as a briefcase. After reading the first chapter I put it back and felt like I should be reading it wearing white cotton gloves. Like their watches the book has inflated as well. amazon.com

I wouldn't pay $500 for it but, if you can find it new or like new for $200 and you like the brand it's a buy, imo.
