I think it's going to take a while for this type of manoeuvre to get flushed out of the system. I remember reading some posts on S.I. that Madoff's offices and network was equipped with stuff that was waaay out of date. That should have set off alarm bells if more widely known. This was before the frauds were discovered and the news made public. The education channels seem to be in place for those that want to know in the Crypto press.
