Torben, Tim Tindall just did another report and it was decidedly bullish for Biotech. They mentioned the VRTX alliance with GLX and explained that the big pharmas were going to be more dependent on research, and the best research was at the Biotechs. The pharmas realized that more research was needed and it was a good investment. Gene based drug discovery was expensive (LGND's is much cheaper) and he expected the pace of alliances to accelerate. Alliances last year were 4 times larger than in 1986 and alliances allow entraprenerial spirit to remain intact. He also indicated that R&D would increase under alliances.
