We are definitely not an impressive sight for anyone who can travel lightyears. It isn't insane to think that someone could be exploring other solar systems and planets. We are 100 years past starting to develop an understanding of quantum mechanics. Some other place could be 1000 years beyond that or millennia or whatever. I may be naive but I could envisage people 1,000 or 10,000 years advanced from us could have harnessed superposition or other concepts we don't even know about yet. Oh, well, at least there seems more substance going on here than we've seen before. I wish my father-in-law, who was certain he saw one, were still around to revel in it ;)
