Here's the news!

Just got off the phone w/ Karen Piper, CYMI IR Department, who works with Leslie Cole. Karen reports that as indicated on the Cymer website under "new releases" (top right hand corner, page 1), mgt. expects *revenues* for the first quarter to be 10 to 15 *percent* lower than 4th quarter revenues.

The major wires reported this as first quarter *per share earnings* *$.10 to $.15* lower than fourth quarter.

If a 12.5% decrease in revenues translates into a, say, 20% decline in earnings, this suggests that first quarter earnings will be $.19 p/s and NOT the $.12 p/s that results from subtracting $.12 from the 4th quarter $.24 number. AND, note that DLJ's $.40 number looks pretty darned close to $.24 - $.15 annualized.

Folks, this is the difference between a $.40 cent year and a year comfortably over a buck.

Buckle up. We're outta here.

John
