Golden oregano is good ornamental plant for some corners, especially since the foliage is pink/purple. But it is not a suitable ground cover b/c it gets too tall and doesn't have as hardy of a habit. Somewhat similar to sage in that regard. I used to plant sage in my mom's backyard both for the look and to keep her healthy. There are many varieties of sage, some of which are very ornamental. Thyme really makes for a fragrant ground cover. I think if more people knew about these things, there would be fewer lawns (and less mowing).
