Barclay Smith Was the storming of the capitol really worth it for Trump supporters?
This answer, unlike most of mine, has layers of nuance.
In the days leading up to the attack, these people were “pumped “ with the adrenaline of their own “convictions.” On the day of the insurrection, they got another shot of adrenaline from Donnie. He told them to go, He said he’d go with them. Shades of Washington crossing the Delaware! Except, Donnie went home and watched the “Revolution “ on TV. So, the “Patriots” were really hyped and they went on down to the Capitol where they behaved exactly like the “looters & thugs” they condemn in other movements. They murdered one police officer and caused the death of another. They pissed in the halls and smeared their shit on the walls. And, they were so “proud” of this behavior, they took selfie’s and video and posted all over Social Media. Good times!
Now, reality sets in. These cretins left the evidence of their crimes, including their DNA all over the Crime Scene. The full throated support they counted on from Donnie dissolved into threats from him about “prosecution!” And, they are stunned by the speed with which many of them have already been arrested.
So, now that the “fun” part is over, they are faced with arrest, conviction, legal fees, time in Federal prison, loss of assets, broken families and nobody seems to have thought through the “martyr to the Cause” part of this disgusting shit show!
One thing they forgot to take into consideration is that while Republicans don’t mind having 6 year olds hide under their desks while gunmen rampage through schools, they really don’t like having to hide in a closet while gunmen threaten their precious asses! So, not as much “love” from that bunch as the “Revolutionaries “ expected.
Was it “worth it?” Sure, if you’re an idiot. If they do it again, it will be doubly worth it because they will be shocked back into reality by an overwhelming armed response. If they want another Civil War, they’re liable to get one. If memory serves, the last one didn’t go their way, either. |
