AT&T's 1st batch of order for CBX & B-STDX will likely be followed by many more orders as AT&T builds out its network in 98, 99. AT&T has said that it will spend in excess of $8 B to build out and upgrade its network in the next 2 years. Just imagine if only 0.5 % of that goes into NW gear for a total of $400 MM which would make the Williams order looks like chicken feed. In addition, the equiment orders are usually accompanied by training, support, SW upgrade maintenance contracts which increase the total value of contracts. I believe the next few batches will include not only CBX 500s, B-STDX 9000s, but also GX 550s and possibly TNT IIs supporting the universal V.pcm std. BTW, I don't know if Gary (not Korn) will still believe that CSCO is the market leader in FR, ATM, ... after ASND has assembled an impressive list of top tier customers for ATM & FR such as AT&T, NTT, UUnet, Williams, GTE Internetworking (formerly BBN), Deutsche Telecom, all RBOCs such as Bell Atlantic/Nynex, Bell South, Cincinnati Bell, !NTERPRISE Networking Services - US WEST,... 2nd tier ISP & cariers such as Frontier, Infonet, Intermedia, China Telecom, Telewest... |
