Yep, decreasing the # shares outstanding increases the per share earnings (and losses) for a fixed amount of earnings (or losses).

They are in effect shrinking the assets of the company for short term gains. The cash (an asset) decreases while the total number of shares outstanding decreases with it. I'm a little concerned that CRUS is opting to buy back so many shares. Actually the statement said up to 10M shares. That could be anywhere from 0 to 10M!
