Post says cut-cutting promised

AIT Advanced Information Technologies
1998-02-02 close $1.2
Tuesday Feb 3 1998

The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday edition that a nasty set of financial numbers failed to drive down the stock of AIT Advanced Information Technologies on Monday. Reporter Jill Vardy says that instead, promises to cut costs to return AIT to operating profitability actually helped the shares inch up $0.05 to $1.20. As it warned investors on December 23, AIT had a net loss of $1.7 million, or $0.26 a share, on revenue of $3.8 million during its first quarter ended December 31. That compares with a loss of $476,000, or $0.07, and $5.2 million in revenue during the same period in 1996. Ottawa-based AIT makes and sells security technology, such as video surveillance and digital recording products. President and CEO Peter Bennett says that revenue during the quarter was dragged down by the delay of a major order from Citibank NA for security products, which AIT had expected to fill in this quarter. That means revenue from the deal cannot be recorded until the second quarter
