TAVA collaborated with GENERAL MOTORS on 53 page "GM Year 2000 Compliance Manual" used by General Motors AND their Supply Chain. =============================================================== TAVA's been working with GM for some time - it's just public now.
SIMS Y2K Topic 11 - Free Registration & Download of GM Manual "Here is a Word Document containing the current version of the General Motors Year 2000 Test Procedures. It is one of the better test procedures documents that I have read. It is provided solely for informational purposes and not as specific recommendations on your particular program. We appreciate GM's willingness to share this document." Dave Hall, SIM Moderator year2000.unt.edu
This is a VERY big deal!
GM is pro-active because the Y2K situation is SO critical. How many companies have you ever heard, that offer something like this FREE for the PUBLIC to download - at NO cost?? GM, Ford and Chrysler are worried about the supply chain!! How many cars can they sell without steering wheels? Without carburetors? Without wheels? What's "mission critical" as a car part???
And this isn't just GM's problem. It's Ford's. It's Chrysler's. It's EVERY automotive manufacturer out there ... from VW to Hundai to Mercedes. When push comes to shove ... where ARE they gonna go for Y2K assessment? Think about it.
If only only one plant is down, because a part is not available .... what happens to the other GM plants downstream?? THEY SHUT DOWN. And, there layoffs at every plant downstream.!
============================================================ TAVA AUTOMOTIVE "BUSINESS ASSESSMENT" DIVISION, Birmingham, AL ============================================================= Why's it called "Business Assessment"? .... ANSWER: Big 3 Supply Chain!!
TAVA Technologies recently opened an office in Birmingham, Alabama, with a staff of five senior system engineers, all with recent Y2K compliance program experience. The company expects this office to grow significantly and quickly. The Birmingham operations have been chartered to lead the company's Y2K compliance business in the automotive industry.
In addition to current engagements at General Motors, TAVA has several other initiatives directed at the automotive industry. As one example, the company has just put a number of its personnel though a Y2K accreditation process managed by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG). This accreditation process is designed by AIAG as part of a program to address the automotive industry supply chain Y2K compliance issues. From Jan 29 PR Release If a brake-valve supplier hits a year 2000 problem and is unable to ship it, it would shut down ALL of GM's assembly plants in just four days. This must be a sobering reality for the auto makers. Hardrocker
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AAIG (Automotive Industry Action Group): READINESS ALERT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a continuing effort to alert suppliers of the potential problems associated with the year 2000; Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors developed a "Self Assessment Checklist" which is being distributed to their suppliers. The checklist covers eight distinct areas that could potentially be affected by the date roll over to the year 2000.
Suppliers are being asked to complete the readiness questionnaire, and forward it to the Automotive Industry Action Group. AIAG is creating a data base for use by the "Big 3" to determine their own readiness for the year 2000 since the supply chain is a critical component of their own compliance.

Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors are encouraging their suppliers to also give equal consideration to the readiness of their own supply chain. AAIG Web Site: aiag.org

This is a VERY big deal. Most people don't see the whole picture ... YET
The market machinations right now are very tiresome. It's tough getting in too early. I'm as frustrated as the next guy about stock movement. Have patience.
If you don't have patience - If you can't conceptualize the whole picture ... SELL!
