There are nuances to the English language which may escape those for whom English is not their native language. I don't believe Mr. Paloyan meant to imply his disregard of or lack of concern for Venezuela and its well-being, although in re-reading the sentence, I can understand how you could have interpreted the sentence to mean that. I believe what Mr. Paloyan intended to say was simply "I am concerned for the hell of a mess Placer has gotten itself into" and ill-advisedly chose Venezuela as a comparator, thus implying he had no concern[or very little] at all for Venezuela. From all accounts, KRY seems to be making a quite-visible effort to raise the standards by which companies do business in and with Venezuela, and thereby directly affect the quality of life for its citizens. Many of us who support KRY do so not only because of the largesse we hope to achieve from having invested in it, but because we feel that it will bring a better life to the people of the country by its activities there. This is not a zero-sum game.
