I fully appreciate Bush's point. But I don't think it applies to Biden's statement. There was nothing in his point to suggest any inherent shortcoming in Black people. The generational wealth disparity, for example, is the historical fault of the system, not some inherent lack of capability on the part of Black people.
There are a lot of people in this country who lack comprehension and critical thinking. Some of them are Black, like your Lavern Spicer. There was nothing in Biden's statement to suggest that black lawyers don't exist or that Biden did not realize that they exist, an inference that you also drew.
(He hasn't gotten the message that some doctors, lawyers, and other professionals are . . . BLACK.)
egad. It's absurd on its face. He appointed a whole bunch of Black lawyers to positions in his administration, for heaven's sake. His VP is a Black lawyer.
There are also a lot of people in this country who are oversensitive. They react like PTSS before they think. Some of them are Black. One of them, seemingly, is named Will Douglas.
There is a difference between inferring that Black people are inherently too stupid to find a lawyer or to be lawyers, themselves, and recognizing that Black people, in general, are less likely to have the financial resources and cultural experience to hire them. |
