Manish; Where would intels stock be with an extra $5 billion earnings last year with no extra costs at all? $40 higher, or more?, times the total shares out is what the SH have paid to crush AMD. Those prices may never come back as the area under the curve has already been minimised. IMO it was a mistake to try to kill AMD that way, as it has failed because others will support AMD and allow it to close the gap between itself and Intel. The slot 1 will turn out to be a bad error like the microchannel was to ibm.
The strategy would have worked better if AMD was three times as large, then the cash shortfalls would have been a lot bigger. As it is a $30M shortfall is noise in the accounting office.
