Thank you for explanation, yes I know that at least many people of Jewish faith converted to Chatolics or Protestants only to be able to enroll in universities.

Napoleon Bonaparte was the one that gave the Jews equal rights under his rule in Europe but still negative bias towards the Jews continued even after that.

My prefered German poet Heinrich Heine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich_Heine) needed to convert as such to find a job asied from his writings.
Heine was a radical liberal and one of the first things he did after his arrival was to take part in a parade which violated the Carlsbad Decrees
On 28 June 1825 Heine converted to Protestantism. The Prussian government had been gradually restoring discrimination against Jews. In 1822 it introduced a law excluding Jews from academic posts and Heine had ambitions for a university career. As Heine said in self-justification, his conversion was "the ticket of admission into European culture". In any event, Heine's conversion, which was reluctant, never brought him any benefits in his career.

Now he is almost on par with Goethe.
