Ken,

>>You are right, the 'average' user already has more power at his finger tips than he will ever use! I have to 'convince' them to continue to upgrade so that I CAN GET MORE FEATURES! I sure couldn't afford the time or money to do it myself. I am testing a voice recognition package that I couldn't possibly have written in any reasonable time!

We all want more USEFUL features but bloating out code with cheesy, demeaning screen antics that please Reggie, but annoy the rest of us, is hardly what professional users are frothing at the mouth for.

To me the computer is just a tool; but when the tool becomes the project, there is something wrong! I'd gladly pay more for software that was more stable and gave me the peace of mind to concentrate on whatever it was I was using it for. Maybe my exposure to software that HAS to work as opposed to SEEMS to work, is something that the average user cannot relate to. With the billions that the consumer pours into software they deserve a stable OS and products that do not require their role as beta-testers.

If I was the Judge I would put Bill Gates in a locked-room with only a phone and your computer then tell him he cannot come out until NT is installed on that machine, as is. As further punishment he would be restricted to using my name when he calls tech support (I'm sure I've made the 'special treatment' list by now). Let him EXPERIENCE Windows for a change.

Have fun with your voice recognition software.

Norm
