I have done some sailing around Scotland. Once landed on an Island, in a fog, no gps, very late at night. We had plenty of booze on board, but I had run out of cigarettes. In those days I drank and smoked. It was a remote Island and pitch black. I have an instinct for finding stuff though and after a long trek in the pitch black, over a big hill, I found a blackened out pub. No light showing ! Very odd. I was guided by the voices. It was 11pm. I was with one friend. We went in and I was relieved to find out I could buy tobacco. Yipeee! We asked for two beers and was promptly informed the pub was closed.

This sort of thing does not normally happen in Scotland. Especially out in the middle of nowhere. After a chat for a little while, it was agreed, we just needed a couple of beers and we were on our way. The publican, in a relieved sort of way, said at first they though we were policemen. To get a laugh, I immediately informed the publican, after taking a long draw from my pint of beer, that we were indeed policemen! The whole pub was instantly horrified. They believed me !!! The laughter was immediate when it was discovered it was just a joke.

I had accidently stumbled upon the "Politician". It's all real. An it looks like the cops are still out to get them, even in the 1990's !!! -lol-

or the earlier version is my preference.

Thankfully I have given up both alcohol and tobacco since those days. And yes, life is better then ever.

There are some wonderful places here -g-
