I think that in 20 years EV's will be hitting main stream in a big way, and although big oil will need to be around over this period of time, it's the early adopters where the really large returns come from. Think of the difference in owning AMZN, AAPL, MSFT from their beginings as opposed to buying them now.

I'm out of all oil companies and pipelines and in on TSLA, NIO, CHPT, etc. for the long haul and getting my yields from other sources.

Of course one's time frame for investing will impact many of the choices people make. The disruptive innovation companies I own are considered my legacy holdings to be passed on to my heirs after I'm gone.
