I have been a long term investor in utilities and it is probably where I have the largest amount of exposure in the market, 26% of the portfolio value.

In owning utilities it is important to own those that are in states considered friendly regulator states, as the more friendly regulator states are where those rate increases have higher probability of passing and allow a higher rate of return.
