Weight bearing exercise keep bone density, aerobic exercise helps control blood pressure. Both help with the inevitable decline of mobility associated with aging. And, if social activity is involved, such as is the case with tennis, there are other benefits.
I agree that ultra strenuous exercise is not a good idea. Very bad for the heart. However, high intensity intermittent aerobics are very good as is any kind of aerobic exercise that ends within an hour or so, especially if there are a few series of high intensity periods as part of the session.
But, yes, nutrition is very important. Of course.
I have been doing intermittent fasting since the pandemic began. Lost 30 lbs. I do a weekly or biweekly 24 hr fast which I try to combine with exercise. Otherwise, I don’t generally eat until after 18 hours have elapsed. The point is too use up as much ‘fuel’ as possible during the fasting period so that the body begins to rely on its stored sources of energy (fat) and eventually on some ketones.
I don’t believe that getting into ketosis by eating fat and cutting off carbs is a good idea at all. The only foods I avoid are sugar and highly processed stuff. Supplements matter, too. Omega 3s, vitamins C, D, and K2, as well as curcumin are in my regimen. |
