The key word here is “nation’s”. Stopping an entire nation from functioning is insanity and hubris. But, dealing with a elderly group living in a condo apartment building - who are willing and able (and desire) to stay home to avoid the infection - why not? Why not minimize their odds of getting exposed?

I’m not aware of any studies specifically addressing a situation like that. They called it - somewhat vaguely - “protecting the vulnerable” - but, no studies.
