The issue of disk compression should be of interest to this thread. I have used it on one computer with an old 425MB drive with Win
95 for 3 years without a glitch. I read a few years ago that with a fast processor, performance could even be increased. And processors are probably ten times faster now than when I read that! Imagine doublespacing an 8 GB drive-approx 16 GB on the desktop, esp if you actually get a performance increase. Anyone know whether there really is a performance increase and whether there is a downside to using data compression?
