Hi Bernie,
I forgot to mention used galvanized lag bolts and big washers.

I used the 6x6's which really measure out 5.5 x5.5.

I use a 1 1/2 countersinking drill bit that recesses the lag bolt into the 2 x10.

I use a 1/2 lag bolt and washer at least 4 1/2 to 5 inches long. On one box I used 3 1/2 in bolts and the bottom board blew out with the frost.

My subsoil is all gravel. That necessitated that I used raised beds from the start.

My oldest bed is now 11 years old.

I learned a lot over each redesign. Burying the 6x6 in the ground along with the middle support board going in the ground and being lagged perpendicular to the 2x10's were important. Since my ground is not level, I set the 6x6's first and then use a string and string level to make the tops of all corner 6x6's level. Then trim the bottom board to fill in the bottom void (after one or two 2x10's). I just went oout to check no use of 2 x 12's. All 2x10's with an occasional 2 x 8.

Bob
