Lag bolts.. Iou are screwing right into the wood ? yeah I dunno know why they call them bolts :) . I was gong to ask about the counter sinking ... when I built my kids' play set I did that... also in places I used tee-nuts with stainless hex bolts... yes countersunk.. and pre-drilled through first.. just so I could take it apart easily and move it is needed... a bit of precision overkill for a garden bed unless I wanna sell kits on amazon ;) no such need for a raised bed.. it's not going anywhere LOL but the counter sink is a nice safety tweak to prevent getting caught etc..Stainless still rust eventually it seems.. so I like the galvanized idea..

THX... Yes I know 2x whatever is the better route :) just looking at lumber prices today is kinda depressing :(

2x12 very expensive.. 2x10 a nice compromise.. more warping cupping in 2x8s and lower..
