I posted this over at Yahoo (someone there asked me where I got my info), thought you might be interested.

Info on my previous post was from Charles Kim, Investor Relations at Unilab. He is relatively new at this position and has replaced Rich Michaelson (a founding officer of ULB, previously the CFO and now a Director who moved back East to become president of another health related company). By the way, Rich Michaelson was extremely pleased with what has been happening at Unilab. He had been commuting for the past 5 years from the east coast because he didn't want to leave ULB until he they had new management in place and he was confident that they could successfully complete the turn-around. As I recall, he owns over a million shares in ULB. He is especially happy with David Weavil, the new president brought in about a year ago. Michaelson and an employee I know at ULB said Weavil really took control, implemented many cost cutting and profit enhancing ideas. Also, he really understands the numbers as he comes from an accounting (as well as clinical laboratory)background.

Charles Kim also mentioned to me that they recently successfully renegotiated two of their largest contracts in Northern California. Unilabs continued renegotiations should ensure that future quarters will continue to outperform previous quarters. As I understand it, they have essentially finished the renegotiations in Southern Calif and have been concentrating on Northern Calif now, but are also going back for round 2 in Southern California.

See ya later.
