HBT, But what about sales per dollar invested? Sales per employee is only one of several factors to consider when looking at productivity. After all, the concept is to buy tech and short workers, so you have to add the cost of that investment and its eternal upkeep to the cost of employment to see how much sales have gone up vs. total cost of selling a product or service.

Yet, as I said in the article, productivity is going up, very slowly. It is not actually heading down. It is just growing much more slowly than it has in the past. Also, the Fortune 1000 represent very little of the total economy. MB
