whatever charge there'll be ought to be small potatoes - purchase announced 1/20/98 and completed in under 2 weeks. Too little time for the lawyers and accountants to rack up huge bills, and Whittaker had to have written down the value of Xyplex on THEIR books to match the sale price (or they will now). Whatever M&A expense incurred while the negotiations were ongoing likely is going to be small also simply because MRVC has some very astute financial analysts of their own, plus the fact that Whittaker really wanted out ofr Xyplex.

Any other writeoffs would cover things like dead inventory (maybe) and perhaps some R & D costs associated with prior products - the bean counters can tell us what's likely to be written down or off but it can't be a whole lot since the purchase price was pretty small and it would take some VERY creative accounting to write off anything near the purchase price, IMHO.
