Hi Nevin, I wonder if Mr. Johnson is referring to INTC, If I had to guess. This is from memory but Intel has 2 Fabs in 0.25uM production
using i-line tech, SVGI's MicrascanQML(sp). Another fab is using
more the advance DUV to tool up and work the kinks out. A guess on my
part but could this be the source of Mr. Johnson's info? Intel's CAP EX for equipment upgrades will be in the 2 Billion $ ball park for 98. This was posted a while back by other members. A few weeks ago in the same techweb forum MR. Johnson had some positive comments on ASMLF. Its growing market share of DUV and the overall market migration towards this technology in 98. Now this piece offers a suggestively nebulous contraindication. It's difficult to counter an opinion held by someone not disclosing information. He's saving that for the subscribers. I would add that I've been an infrequent but long time poster to this thread. I've seen a great deal of deviation by forecasters if you were to look at their intial expected and the actual observed year end results. I realize it's difficult to predict such matters but it gives them a job. Take such forward looking statements by experts for what they are worth. Often times this thread has a better handle on things thanks to contributions like yours and others. Please give me and others more than 4 minute to respond. <g>
