So much for our escape from Europe.

I went for a walk along a disused road today. The main road has been straightened out, and varous bits of the old "main road" have not been used for a couple of decades. This is what a road looks like after not been used for 20 years or so.

The last picture is of a bridge built in 1780 and doubled in width, the surface canted at about 5 degrees to take the fast moving traffic moving around in a curve, including 18 wheeler container trucks. Just amazed what the guys did in 1780 to make bridges built for horses and carts !

However, nature has reclaimed the road already. After another 20 years, with a few more fallen trees across it, and decayed, it will take an extended Archaeological dig to refind it again.
