About masks… I think it’s clear that what their priority is to a large extent, likely mostly - obedience. That is shown by the fact that there is no discussion about what masks work better (worse)… about how to make them work more efficiently, and so on. So, the priority is, apparently, obedience to the gov mandated ritual of “face covering”.

About the UV air purifiers. I did some research on that, last year. To summarize:

UV bulbs that AC people love to install inside ducts are (imo) of little use. The air moves through the ducts fast, and the exposure to the UV is too brief to kill the virus. Besides, AC duct UV systems have no filters. Why not? I think it’s not worth doing.

Another thing - I’ve been in rooms that smelled with ozone. Ozone is toxic. There are units that use the exact UV spectrum which is optimal for killing bacteria and viruses - AND does NOT produce ozone.

Best is probably the design that combines good quality filters and UV lights of that optimal spectrum. If the UV light is directed at the filter from the inside, from the direction of the air flow - what you get is that particles carrying viruses get stuck in the filter - which causes them to be exposed to the UV for a longer time.

Some manufacturers discuss all this on their web sites - and even show effectiveness studies.
